I live just north of Roy in West Haven, so Roy is part of my everyday drive. It's where I catch FrontRunner, take the I-15 exit toward Hill Air Force Base, and head to Roy Days at the start of every August. Roy is an established city with its own train station, an outdoor aquatic center, and a long list of neighborhood parks. The Census counted 39,306 residents in 2020 and estimated 38,794 by July 2025. Here's my honest rundown of what it's like to live here.
Getting around
Roy sits on the west side of I-15 in Weber County, with West Haven to the north. I-15 exit 338 connects to 5600 South (SR-97), one of Roy's main roads, and the same exit serves the north gate of Hill Air Force Base. The Roy FrontRunner station is at 4155 S. Sandridge Drive and has a free park-and-ride lot with about 500 spaces. Commute times depend on traffic and where you're headed, so test-drive your route at rush hour before you buy.

Roy has parks spread through its neighborhoods. Some highlights:

Homes in Roy
Roy was settled in 1873 and incorporated in 1937. It grew fast during and after World War II, when it housed workers from Hill Air Force Base and nearby defense depots. Much of the east bench filled in during the 1950s and 1960s with modest starter homes, so you'll find plenty of ramblers and split-levels from that era. From the 1980s to the mid-2000s, building moved to the west side, where homes tend to be newer.
